Research scientist in the Dept. of Physics & Astronomy at The University of Iowa and Deputy Principal Investigator for the Radio and Plasma Wave Science (RPWS) investigation on Cassini. Kurth is Co-investigator on both the Plasma Wave Science investigations on the two Voyager spacecraft, and for plasma wave instruments on the Juno mission to Jupiter and the twin Van Allen Probes spacecraft in Earth’s orbit. He was a co-investigator on the Plasma Wave Science investigation on the Galileo mission to Jupiter.
Dr. Kurth’s primary research interests are solar system radio astronomy and studies of plasma waves in planetary magnetospheres.
