The Volt Per Octaves

Formed in 2004 in California, The Volt per Octaves set out to bring live Moog synth to the stage. In fact, the trio chose their moniker as a direct reference to the genius of Dr. Robert Moog. The VPOs are a family affair consisting of husband, wife and daughter Nick, Anna and Eva Montoya. While their goal was merely to evangelize analog, the Montoya family have taken their Moog based sound beyond their local California roots. In 2008, they moved to the Portland, Oregon area to hone their craft further before moving to Asheville, NC in 2013. Over the course of their three studio albums, the young family have worked with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Bernie Worrell (P-Funk/Talking Heads), bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck), Roger Manning Jr. (Jellyfish/Air) and Moog master Brian Kehew (Moog Cookbook/Air). They are no strangers to Moogfest either, having played the first two generations of the festival in 2005 & 2010. With a new studio album in the works for 2014, the family that Moogs together will certainly be an analog act to watch out for!
