On the north side of downtown Asheville are moogfest 2010's primary venues: the Asheville Civic Center which houses both the 6,000-capacity Arena, and the smaller 2,400-seat Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. Shows will also take place at The Orange Peel, a 1,000-capacity club named by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the best rock clubs in the country.
Moogfest 2010 will also be utilizing the following venues to complete your overall festival experience:
Stella Blue - (31 Patton Ave.)
Keeping the late night action pumping will be one of downtown Asheville's premier places to see emerging acts. This intimate venue, conveniently located on the festival path from the ACC/TWA to the Orange Peel, will host everyone from national acts Javelin and Pnuma Trio to regional dynamos such as Mindelixir and Star Mountain. Stella Blue will also feature the "Last Gasp" with Marty Party presented by DJ Times to close out the weekend. Stella Blue is a 18+ venue. (Capacity 400)
MOOGAPLEX - (46 Haywood St.)
Located in the Haywood Park complex, the Moogaplex will host the Red Bull Music Academy Moog Workshops & Panels where an array of artists and experts will come together for an interactive learning experience showcasing Moog Music products, while giving patrons a sense of musical history as well as opening their minds to the future possibilities of sound creation. After the sun goes down, Moogaplex will host Late Night at the Moogaplex presented by Resident Advisor which will showcase top techno and dubstep DJ’s like Ikonika, Bonobo, Lorn as well as an encore set from dirty soul king, Dam-Funk. If you need a breather, Moogaplex will also house the U.S. Cellular Recharge Lounge where you can recharge your phone, participate in activities or just relax. (Capacity - 250 for Workshops and 440 for Late Night DJ Sets)
FINE ARTS THEATER - (36 Biltmore Ave.)
Throughout Saturday and Sunday, Moogfest will be screening films at the Fine Arts Theater, one of the region’s premiere spots for independent, edgy and thought-provoking movies. Located just a few steps from the Orange Peel, the FAT will showing Bouncing Cats (a film by Nabil Ederkin and produced by Red Bull Media House) and Moog (a documentary film by Hans Fjellestad) during the festival.
